Early College Football Lines and Point Spreads For Week 13

Vegas(468x60)
Once again last week we found many opportunities in the early and opening lines that were no longer available later in the week that made all the difference between winning and losing.

Off of the top of my head, we can look at the Boise-Idaho game which opened at Boise -33 1/2, sat for over a day at Boise -24 before settling in at Boise -36 1/2. Boise won by 35 for the second week in a row and for the second week in a row, timing on the Broncos meant everything. In the Ohio State-Illinois game the line opened at 10 and within 2 days was at 9 . Plus 10 was a push for Illinois backers while for Ohio State backers patience paid off.

As we look to this weeks lines we’re sure to see plenty of movement as well as we head down the closing stretch of the season. Changing spreads were no problem for Mark R of Delaware who went a smashing 12-3 against the number with a site record 99 confidence points to win this week’s free picking contest. We congratulate Mark and while some may feel I may stress my enthusiasm for the contest too often, Mark says it was my encouraging everyone to join that got him to finally give it a shot. Of course it cost Mark nothing and he wins a gift card from one of our sponsors for his accomplishment.

Well the lines are up and we see some real surprises out there, lets see what we have to work with this week.

On Tuesday 11/18/08 , Northern Illinois is -3 1/2 at Kent. We have had plenty of chances to see both of these teams in recent weeks.

On Wednesday 11/19/08, Ball State is -6 at Central Michigan. Ball State looks to keep their dream of a perfect season alive.

On Thursday 11/20/08, Miami is +4 at Georgia Tech. With Miami’s 5 game winning streak they now control their own destiny in the ACC.

On Friday 11/21/08, Miami (OH) is +3 at Toledo, Buffalo is +4 at Bowling Green, and Fresno State is -3 at San Jose State. This triple dose of college football makes for an exciting start to the weekend.

As we move into Saturday 11/22/08, Eastern Michigan is +10 at Temple. Temple has played decently and has been a factor in every game they have played.

Army is +17 at Rutgers. Both of these teams have played much better football in the second half of the season.

Illinois is -2 1/2 at Northwestern. This is one of many regional battles where the records aren’t going to matter.

Pittsburgh is +4 1/2 at Cincinnati. This battle for the Big East may be one of the best games of the day.

Boston College is +1 1/2 at Wake Forest. Every game in the ACC seem unpredictable these days.

Indiana is +13 at Purdue. Joe Tiller says goodbye to the rivalry.

Michigan is +19 1/2 at Ohio State. It would have to be much more of a mismatch than this to take the luster off of this game.

Duke is +17 1/2 at Virginia Tech. This line seems to be rather large given the play of both of these teams this year.

Florida State is +1 at Maryland. The Terps have been tough at home this season.

NC State is +11 1/2 at North Carolina. We never know which team is going to show up for either of these clubs.

Iowa State is +10 at Kansas State. Both of these teams try and bring something positive into next season.

Tennessee is +3 at Vandy. Both of these teams have been surprises for different reasons.

Arkansas is Pick at Mississippi State. This comes down to just another tough SEC battle.

Akron is -2 at Ohio. Both of these teams are back on Saturdays after being weekday players often this season.

Colorado State is -2 at Wyoming. This one always sparks some good debate.

Marshall is +8 1/2 at Rice. Marshall was waxed this past weekend as a favorite.

Syracuse is +19 at Notre Dame. The Irish look to upgrade their bowl status as the Orange look for a coach.

Washington is -8 at Washington State. Something has to give in this battle of punching bags.

Tulane is +28 at Tulsa. The  Golden Hurricane came of a game where they gave up points in bunches, could have easily been 100.

Texas Tech is +6 at Oklahoma. The Red Raiders still have a long way to go to make it to Miami as they control their own destiny.

Michigan State is +14 1/2 at Penn State. The Lions are just a win and a few fortunate bounces from making it to the title game.

Clemson is -3 at Virginia. While Clemson’s ACC dreams ended early, there is still a season to salvage.

Air Force is +19 at TCU. We have a running team against a very strong run defense.

Stanford is +10 at Cal. I’m sure the band won’t be on the field too early in this one.

Louisiana Tech is - 6 1/2 at New Mexico State. This one shapes up to be a decent game.

Boise State is -6 at Nevada. It’s pretty simple, Boise wins out and it will be tough to keep them out of the BCS.

East Carolina is -7 at UAB. ECU’s early season heroics seem like a distant memory.

UTEP is +14 1/2 at Houston. Houston exploded offensively this past weekend against Tulsa.

BYU is +5 1/2 at Utah. Plain and simple, it’s Holy War!

Iowa is -6 at Minnesota. Both of these teams have far exceeded expectations.

Oregon State is +3 at Arizona. Oregon State controls their own destiny in the PAC-10.

West Virginia is -7 at Louisville. This is a season Louisville may want to forget.

Central Florida is +4 at Memphis. Two great coaches duke it out on the field.

UNLV is -12 1/2 at San Diego State. SDSU appears to be playing out the string as they took a beating against Utah last week.

Ole Miss is +5 at LSU. Houston. Every week in the SEC every game is important.

Idaho is +23 1/2 at Hawaii. Both of these teams are playing decent football right now.

Florida Atlantic is +5 1/2 at Arkansas State. The Owls have picked it up since conference play began.

UL Monore is +6 at Florida International. FIU may e headed in the right direction for their first time ever.

North Texas is +20 at Middle Tennessee State. MTSU has back to back games against two of the worst teams in the country in UNT and last week at WKU.

UL Lafayette is +8 at Troy. Troy had LSU on the hook and let them off this past weekend.

On Sunday 11/23/08, UConn is +3 at South Florida. Both of these teams looking to finish strong as the both should be going bowling.

These are the lines as they stand now at the opening. We’ll be checking them all week as we continue to pick the majority of the games being played this season.

mitch did you see the end of pitt and san diego i just want to know what you think of that set up
im pissed straight up vegas set up for real i cant believe that they said something about point diff bull touch down is a touch down on the scoreboard vegas made the call

That was ridiculous, they can’t change the rules on the fly.

where is florida -928???

lol!

I heard +14

I want to put all my money on washington this week…how do I do that? Where do I sign up to bet something other than a parlay card?

by the way…if you have a tim hortons near you, check before you eat. I just got 3/4 done with a sub and noticed a green patch on the bottom of the bread…I’m going to throw up…I’m trying to tell myself it isn’t mold, but I’m not too convincing.

Oklahoma wins and covers. The line will move up get it now!!

Marc, email me and I can help you out with some info, I just don’t want any advertising for sports books on here.
Kuhlero, is that your pick of the week? I think the line is already going up.

Mitch

oh wow… dont like the tulsa pick at all. seriously. UAB beat tulane 42-21 I think and they havent won a game all year I dont think. Tulsa will cover that in the 1st half. Houston an UTep are tough teams.

Hi Conceited,

I must be missing something, did someone make a pick on here because I don’t see it yet.

Thanks,

Mitch

what happened with that pittsburgh game was completely messed up. how can u call a touchdown on the field. confirm it after the review and then take the points away after they alrdy said the game was over. vegas called one in on this. complete crap. they should be looking into that and making more of a deal about it then they are.

Mitch, actually the over on the Tech v Oklahoma game is my pick of the week, Oklahoma averaging 50 points a game and Tech comes in averaging 48 poings per game. I say these team combine for over 100 points.

The reason I’m picking Oklahoma is the homefield advantage. Tech two biggest wins this year against Oklahoma St., and Texas were at home. On the road this year nothing but cupcakes. I say the pressur gets to them late in the 4th quarter and Oklahoma wins and covers. IMHO

oh by the way. vegas made 66 million dallors off that BS call at the end of the pitt game. yay for vegas changing the out come of football games eh?

also the money was not even on this game. the little research ive done says the money was 4 to 1 on pitt. and now the ref is coming out and saying he made a mistake with the call. ya i wonder why. maybe because he knows they are going to be looking into the refs who refd the game. i still dont see how a ref can change what the review booths decision was. what is the point in having reviews if the refs on the field dont have to listen to them and can call whatever they want. doesnt that defeat the purpose of reviewing plays. on top of all that the play should never have been reviewed because the refs didnt blow the play dead on the field and if thats the case then as i understand it the defense has an option to deny the so called “illegal forward latteral” which let me tell you. i was watching the game and there was nothing forward about it. and they called the game over before they took the points away. i just dont understand how they can get away with this. its so obvious the play was called back for vegas and vegas only. ok sorry im done ranting but i hope everyone else is upset about this tragedy as i am. its not just about the money… its about refs messing up a game i love so much. this time it didnt change the outcome as far as who wins but whats to say next time it doesnt.

oh mitch I thought you were leaning towards tulane as a possible pick, u had +28 tulane

No…lol..I was just listing the lines with the road team first :)

Mitch
