Jordan Picks Week 13 2008 College Football Against The Spread
Friday: November 21, 2008
Buffalo + 4 at Bowling Green
Why is Buffalo getting four points in this game? This is a great team. I love Turner Gill and Drew Willy. I have bet Buffalo and won so many times this year I feel like I am getting repetitive. Buffalo pulling it out in triple OT last week was awesome and I love them to win again. Bowling Green is suspect city. I don’t see them beating Buffalo at all let alone by four points. This line is way off and the only reason why I see it that way is because of Bowling Green’s record vs. Buffalo at home in previous years. Buffalo has never been this good before. Buffalo has a special place in my heart :).
San Jose St. + 3.5 over Fresno St.
I think Fresno St. is the worst team in the WAC this year and they have been disturbingly bad on the road. San Jose St. has the defense to lock them down and is due for a win anyway. I like the Icha brothers to get after it on defense and dominate the Bulldogs who have had embarrassing losses all year (see week 12 San Jose St. pick). I still think San Jose St. is a solid team even though they have been failing to cover and this should be their week to do it. It is at home on a Friday night anyway, run with it. I find it very funny that people were talking about Brandstater as a dark horse Heisman candidate in the pre-season. This kid looks more like a dark horse candidate to be a history teacher at Fresno St. for 30 years.

Michigan St. + 14 over Penn St.
Daryl Clarke has been struggling tremendously down the stretch, even though his stats look very good on paper. Michigan St. has the style of offense that can really give Penn St. a lot of problems. Javon Ringer is a North/South slasher and will do to Penn St. what Shonn Greene did two weeks ago totally controlling the clock. Penn St. has been exposed when teams have stopped Royster and has been struggling getting the ball to Derrick Williams. Williams has not been able to get open down the stretch and Penn St. hasn’t been able to put the ball in the end zone when they need to. They even struggled last week vs. a very weak Indiana team. I really like Michigan St. in this game and think it will be decided by less than 7 points easily.

Utah - 7 over BYU
Interesting story lines in this one and I am offering it because it is one of the best games of the year. This is a toss up game and will be a “Holy War”. I am leaning towards Utah because of their defense. They are in the top 15 in every important defensive category. They are playing at home and they have excellent special teams. If they can play good defense, they are playing at home, and they have strong special teams, those are very good qualities. I also really like Utah’s senior quarterback Brian Johnson. The essential spread offense quarterback will lead his team at home. BYU’s defense has been very suspect all year allowing everyone in their conference to put up points on them and the defenses will be the difference in this one.
Texas Tech + 7 over Oklahoma
This is the most evenly matched game of the year. Everything about this game screams Oklahoma. Oklahoma is playing at home, Texas Tech has struggled on the road this year, and Sam Bradford has been looking more like Peyton Manning every game. Let me tell you something about this game that will be the difference, Oklahoma’s defense. Their defense has been very poor this year allowing over 30 points a game and ranked 93rd in the nation in pass defense vs. the most flawless quarterback and best receiver in the country. I can’t see Oklahoma stopping them at all. The ball gets out of Graham Harrell’s hand so fast it is ridiculous and will totally take Oklahoma’s defensive line out of the game which is the best part of their defense. If Oklahoma brings Blitz packages it will hurt them even worse because Tech’s offensive line has been down right nasty all year. I also really like Texas Tech’s defense this year and think they surprise a lot of people and come out and win this game. Harrell will throw for at least 6 touchdowns in this game and Oklahoma’s terrible linebackers will get exploited big time. Getting seven points is an absolute joke. I’ll be laughing my way to the bank.
NC State + 11 over UNC
And the award for no name freshman that has dominated ATS this year goes to NC State quarterback Russell Wilson. This kid is a gamer and will always keep his team in games to the very last play. UNC is a solid team but they haven’t been blowing people out because they have been playing to the level of their opponent’s game after game. I think 11 points is too good to pass up and this game will be decided by a single digit deficit.
Boston College + 2 over Wake Forrest:
Boston College has been playing really physical football and was very impressive winning easily in a blackout vs. Florida St. Chris Crane has been getting better and cutting down on the turnovers and I think BC wins out. Wake Forrest doesn’t have the firepower on offense to put points up on BC’s physical defense.
Maryland + 1 over Florida St.
I like Florida State to beat themselves again in this game. They are young and undisciplined and Bowden is doing a poor coaching job with great talent. Maryland has been a perfect 6 – 0 at home this year and I can’t pick against that record. Heyward – Bey will make some big plays in this game and Maryland has the speed to beat FSU.
Virginia + 2.5 over Clemson
Virginia has played awesome at home and I love tailback Cedric Peerman. I think Peerman has a huge game against Clemson. Clemson has been really bad on the road and has been inconsistent all year. Virginia is ready to bounce back and come up with a big win for their school.
Ole Miss + 4 over LSU
I love Ole Miss and Houston Nutt. Dexter McCluster and Jevean Snead are my two favorite players in the SEC and Ole Miss is a lot better than people think. LSU has had terrible quarterback play and just doesn’t have the talent to back up their reputation this season. Les Miles is in a rebuilding year and I like Ole Miss to roll with their playmakers and Houston Nutt’s excellent coaching ability.

Washington – 7 over Washington St.
No one from a BCS conference deserves to be favored this closely vs. the biggest joke in the history of the PAC – 10. Washington St. is horrible. I don’t care if UW hasn’t won a game, they will win this game by 3 scores minimum. State has no defense at all. There are just people out there for state standing in the way moving through the motions as people run right by them game after game. I don’t blame Vegas for the line but I wouldn’t take Washington St. if they were plus 30.
Rutgers – 19.5 over Army
A lot of points here but Rutgers is very hot and their offense has been peaking and scoring easily. Army just can’t hang in this game. I have been very impressed with how physical Schiano’s boys have been playing and Rutgers is a serious force in the big east right now.
UTEP + 17 over Houston
TV for heisman. Only kidding, but he deserves some credit for how ridiculous he has been playing and I love these UTEP fans that have been visiting our site. 17 is a lot of points and UTEP is red hot. I really like UTEP’s special teams and defensive play as well. UTEP is very balanced and with their high-octane offense I think they surprise a lot of people and play Houston very close. This seems like a sandwich game for Houston and I think they scored enough points last week to slow up a little bit in this one.

Except for wednesday night, we seem to have the same opinions lol. I’ve been saying all week that UW would win by a big margin! I can’t believe this game will be on national TV (if you have fox sports net, which most everyone does)…
How much do you like the Buffalo & San Jose pick Jordon? What’s your TOP 5?
Jordan excellent analysis, I really like your Buffalo, Washington, and of course UTEP picks. TV for president LOL. Man really looking forward to the Tech Oklahoma game, I’m really liking Bradford, and the homefield advantage here, I think the crowd, and homefield advantage is at least worth 7 points here. UTEP is red hot right now, but to all UTEP backers I have a BETTOR’S ALERT: SENIOR CENTER ROBBY FELIX WILL NOT PLAY SATURDAY AFTER SUFFERING A MILD STROKE, FELIX IS A FOUR YEAR LETTERMAN AND THE ANCHOR OF THE OFFENSE LINE, AND UTEP’S TOP NFL PROSPECT…
Hi Jordan, your analysis is second to no one. Love the Buffalo pick. What is your confidence level in San Jose? Thanks as always.
I am always confident against Fresno.sj State has one of the most opportunistic defenses in football and should capitolize on an undisciplined road team.
I am against everyone on the Buffalo pick :D Bowling Green had a bye week. This is their last home game and they’re going to win to secure the first place. I’m picking Bowling Green -3.5
Bowling Green is 2-7 against the number in their last 9 following a bye week
Mitch
Nice find there Mitch.
What are you guys thinking on the Over/Under for Buffalo/Bowling Green (56) & for SJSU/Fresno (48.5)??
over for buffalo?? will we get lucky again this week?
Would like to play the reverse to make some $$ like the NIU game ;)
Hey Jordan, In your opinion what are the three easiest picks for a three team parlay Saturday? I figure Washington is sure what are two others? Thanks
I like Michigan State in a close second behind washington. I got them at 15 and that is way too much.
then for the last game I would honestly say Texas Tech. I think it is a very solid pick at 7 points.
Thanks, I thought Mich State asn Arkansas..
