More Free Picks and Analysis, Site News, and Free Picking Contest

By Mitch • November 26th, 2008

While Jordan and I always put our best foot forward when making and presenting our picks, we always do a little something special every week when putting together our free newsletter.

While we don’t point out all of the details and minutia that we pour through while doing our research, we do put up a lot more complete information in an easy to read format. This past week the newsletter picks were a solid 3 out of 3 as Jordan selected Cincinnati to cover against Pittsburgh and Oregon State to cover against Arizona and I had West Virginia to take care of business against Louisville; all of these came through as solid covers. We plan on continuing with making picks in the newsletter and selected bowl game picks will only be available through the newsletter.

By signing up for the newsletter it also allows you to enter our free picking contest. While it’s winding down for the regular season this year, the picking contest for the bowls will be our biggest yet and will cover several weeks of action. I think everyone has had a good time doing the picking contest and the scores have gotten better and better every week. Last week’s winner was Mayday who went 12-3 against the spread and amassed a record 105 confidence points.

While this confidence points thing sounds confusing, it’s what makes our weekly picking contest different from any others that are out there. We send out all of the games that are ebing played every week and let you pick which 15 games you want to select the winner against the spread in. Once you have selected the games, then you rate them on a scale of 1-15 based on how confident you are in the selection; it’s sort of like what I go through when I make and post my picks every week.

We have a lot going on here and we are going to use the newsletter to keep you updated as new sites in our network open and any other important events. What we don’t want to do is to make it something that is sent out so often that you don’t want to read it anymore. You can always suggest what you would like to see in it in our forum or if you want to see more of something or less of something.

As for our current site news we are hoping to have our College Basketball site up soon. While we don’t wnat to put up anthing that isn’t a representation of what we are all about, we also know that because of the timing if we are to get it up and running this year it is going ot have to be a major work in progress as the season goes on. Lie everything around here we aren’t too worried as we feel with quality content and participation from everyone in the forums it will be a huge success and both informative and fun.

A few weeks ago we also opened our chat room. While a few motnhs ago we wouldn’t have even thought we would have enough regular readers to have a chat, we have more than enough and this has been a great chance for everyone to get to know each other and for all of us to watch games together. I plan on doing this throughout the bowls and since it’s always open anyways we can use it for the NFL, COllege hoops, or whatever you like. Usually if there is event you want to have chat about just throw up a post in the forum announcing it and give people as much lead time as you can.

Remember, almost all of the changes you have seen here have come from reader requests so if you have something you want to see or you want us to add just let me know and I’ll do my best to make it happen.

Thanks for making the site what it is today and for setting us well on our course to become even more.
